A registered patent attorney, Ryan G. Thorne’s practice focuses on intellectual property and technology-related litigation, including patent litigation and Patent Trial and Appeal Board proceedings.  His experience includes arguing at oral hearings before both the District Court and the Board, drafting pleadings, and motions, and pleadings, preparing contentions, supporting and taking and defending expert cross-examinations, taking and defending depositions, and performing technical analysis in cases involving medical devices, robotics, telecommunications, semiconductors, computer architecture, and computer software.  He has also served as pro bono counsel for pro se prisoners in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York in constitutional rights violation matters.

Mr. Thorne was part of the team that represented Monterey Research in cases against Qualcomm, Broadcom, AMD, and Marvell, in the Districts of Delaware, the Western District Of Texas, and the PTAB.  The litigations resulted in favorable settlements against Qualcomm, Broadcom, AMD, and Marvell.  His work on behalf on Monterey contributed to favorable claim constructions, denial of transfer motions, and denials of institution in front of the Board.
 
He was also part of the team defending Intel Corporation in a patent litigation brought by XMTT, Inc. accusing virtually all of Intel’s desktop and mobile processors of infringement.  XMTT, Inc., v. Intel Corporation, No. 18-cv-1810 (D. Del. 2018). The team won summary judgment of non-infringement for Intel Corp. 

During law school, Mr. Thorne spent a semester as a full -time student law clerk under the Alexander Fellows Program for the Hon. Lorna G. Schofield of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.  He also served as a staff editor for the Cardozo Arts and Entertainment Law Journal, an intellectual property and entertainment journal.  He was part of Cardozo’s Tech Startup Clinic, in which he provided corporate and intellectual property services to technology startup companies.  He is the recipient of The Jacob Burns Medal for Outstanding Contribution to Cardozo and a Dean’s Merit Scholarship.
