Notable Successes

Desmarais LLP ranked as one of the top law firms representing petitioners and patent owners before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board in 2020, according to a Managing IP report, which published in January 2021. The firm filed more than 50 proceedings before the PTAB during the 12-month period and Desmarais LLP ranked as the 12th most active firm in the industry.
 
The Managing IP analysis also named six Desmarais LLP attorneys among the industry’s most active practitioners before the PTAB, including partners Yung-Hoon (Sam) Ha and Jonas McDavit; of counsel Theodoros Konstantakopoulos and Jordan Malz; and associates Ryan Thorne and Michael Wueste.
 
In 2020, the number of overall petitions filed before the PTAB totaled 1,538, which represented a 16% increase from 2019. The petitions included 1,443 inter partes reviews, 80 post grant reviews and 15 covered business methods, according to Managing IP’s analysis of 2020 Docket Navigator data.
