Prior to joining Desmarais LLP, Mr. Lewis was an intellectual property (IP) associate at Kilpatrick Townsend Stockton LLP in Raleigh, North Carolina. As an IP associate, he was twice recognized for his community involvement as a member of the North Carolina Pro Bono Honor Society.
Before his legal career, Mr. Lewis was a primary patent examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), where he examined patent applications in the video distribution and television arts. During his time as an examiner, he was twice selected to work as a detailee at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). And while at the PTAB, he drafted various types of decisions for over 40 ex parte appeals, inter partes reviews, and post-grant reviews.
While attending law school, Mr. Lewis received the Book Award in Patent Law, and while Vice President of the Native American Law Students Association (NALSA), the organization received the Publico Award for Group Pro Bono Project of the Year.
