During law school, Ms. Locke worked as a staff editor for the Georgetown Law Technology Review and gained litigation experience as a student attorney in Georgetown Law’s Health Justice Alliance Clinic. She taught legal writing as a Georgetown Law Legal Writing Fellow. She is passionate about the evolving relationship between biotechnology, bioethics, and the law.
Prior to law school, Ms. Locke earned a bachelor’s degree with honors in molecular and cell biology, with an emphasis in neurobiology. Ms. Locke followed her curiosity about the impact of chronic stress and mental illness on cognitive function. Her undergraduate research career and honors thesis focused on mechanisms of epileptogenisis as they relate to the advancement of neurodegenerative diseases, with the aim of exploring novel therapies for dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Ms. Locke also wrote articles focused on science and technology as a part of UC Berkeley’s Science Communication internship.
