Desmarais LLP is pleased to announce that Tim Cho, Ben Luehrs, and Michael Rhodes have been elevated to partner and Jamie Kringstein has been elevated to counsel at the firm, effective January 1, 2024.
“These attorneys have been integral to several of our trial successes over the years, and we are confident they will continue to help us build the firm as partners,” said John Desmarais, partner at Desmarais LLP. “We congratulate this group; their promotions are well-deserved.”
The firm, which was founded in 2010, now has about 85 attorneys across its New York headquarters and San Francisco and Washington, D.C. offices.
Tim Cho
Tim Cho was previously at Desmarais LLP and rejoined in 2022. His practice focuses on patent disputes before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, as well as litigation in the district courts. He has handled litigation involving technologies, including semiconductors, analog and digital electronics, computer software, database systems, signal processing systems, and wireless communications standards and systems. He earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST); master’s and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and a law degree from Fordham University.
Ben Luehrs
Ben Luehrs joined Desmarais LLP in 2021. His practice focuses on high-stakes patent litigation cases in the district courts, as well as before the International Trade Commission, the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office, and courts of appeal. He has handled cases across a variety of industries, including life sciences, medical devices, aviation, apparel, and mechanical and electrical arts. He earned a bachelor's degree in business and political science from Bethel University in 2011, and a law degree from the University of Minnesota in 2015.
Michael Rhodes
Michael Rhodes joined Desmarais LLP full-time in 2015 after working at the firm as a summer associate in 2014. His practice focuses on representing plaintiffs and defendants in patent litigations involving complex technology in the district courts and in patent office proceedings. He has handled cases across a wide array of technologies, including networking equipment, collaboration platforms, data center servers, E-commerce systems, storage devices, digital cameras, Bluetooth beacons, semiconductor fabrication, and programmable interfaces. He earned a bachelor's degree in electrical and computer engineering and economics from Duke University in 2012 and a law degree from Columbia University in 2015.
Jamie Kringstein
Jamie Kringstein joined Desmarais LLP in 2019. Her practice focuses on patent infringement litigation and IP counseling. She has handled cases involving complex technologies, including wireless communications, computer processors, audio compression, and medical devices. She earned a bachelor's degree in engineering science and psychology from Vanderbilt University in 2010 and a law degree from Fordham University in 2014.
