The 2023 Patexia Patent Litigation Intelligence Report has recognized Desmarais LLP and John Desmarais, founding partner, as among the top performers handling patent disputes in the United States.
Patexia, a research and analytics firm, assessed intellectual property firms and attorneys based on their case volume during a five-year period and their successes in those litigations. In the January 2023 report, Desmarais LLP earned an 81% performance score representing plaintiffs and defendants in more than 300 cases. Additionally, Desmarais LLP was among the most active firms handling patent disputes and a top-50 performer, according to the research.
The report ranked John Desmarais No. 9 among patent litigators overall with an 84% performance score representing plaintiffs and defendants. He was also among the most active individual attorneys handling patent cases during the time period.
The 2023 Patexia report reviewed litigations filed from July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2022 and included 18,493 district court cases; 17,377 unique patents; 20,065 total plaintiffs and defendants; 3,608 law firms; and 17,052 attorneys.
