Notable Successes

LMG Life Sciences has recognized Desmarais LLP with the 2023 Patent Impact Case of the Year Award, highlighting its wins for the biotech firm Ravgen against Labcorp, which have totaled $372.5 million.
 
Desmarais LLP won a $272.5 million jury verdict in September 2022 and an additional $100 million in enhanced damages in May 2023 based on infringement of Ravgen’s prenatal genetic testing technology. Desmarais LLP also defeated 10 inter partes review challenges to Ravgen’s patents before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and the firm secured favorable settlements for Ravgen with Illumina, PerkinElmer and Quest Diagnostics.
 
The firm received the Patent Impact Case of the Year Award as part of the 11th annual LMG Life Sciences Americas Awards event, held on September 7. The 2023 Americas Awards honor the industry’s top life science firms and practitioners across four practice areas – financial and corporate, intellectual property, non-IP litigation, and regulatory.
