Desmarais LLP partner John Desmarais will participate in New York University School of Law’s “Proving IP” Symposium this month. Desmarais, who graduated from NYU Law in 1988, will speak on a panel titled “Proving Damages” that will focus on how to most effectively calculate and apportion damages.
During his career, Desmarais has secured billions of dollars in damages for clients, including a $1.5 billion win for Alcatel-Lucent against Microsoft, which remains one of the largest patent infringement jury verdicts. This past year, as lead trial counsel for Desmarais LLP, he secured an $82.5 million jury verdict for IBM against Groupon and negotiated a $400 million payout for Cisco Systems from Arista Networks to settle patent and antitrust litigation.
The “Proving IP” Symposium is scheduled for May 16-17 at the NYU School of Law campus in New York, and the “Proving Damages” panel will take place at 3:30 p.m. on May 16.
