Patexia’s annual IPR Intelligence Report for 2020 honored Desmarais LLP as one of the industry’s top firms handling cases before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and named Of Counsel Theodoros Konstantakopoulos Ph.D. among the top attorneys in the United States handling inter partes reviews.
Desmarais LLP ranked 18th among the Best Performing Law Firms representing Patent Owners (Performance Score: 81.2%) and 42nd among the Best Performing Law Firms Overall (Performance Score: 69.6%).
The report also ranked Desmarais LLP 51st among the Most Active Law Firms representing Patent Owners (ranked 54th in 2019), 54th among the Most Active Law Firms representing Petitioners (ranked 114th in 2019), and 63rd among the Most Active Laws Firm Overall (ranked 79th in 2019).
Patexia focused its review on the five-year period from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2020 when 7,708 inter partes review petitions were filed before the PTAB. Desmarais LLP handled 44 patent owner cases and 35 petitioner cases during that time period.
The report also recognized Dr. Theodoros Konstantakopoulos for his success before the PTAB and the number of cases he handled. Dr. Konstantakopoulos ranked 11th (previously 30th in 2019) among the Best Performing Attorneys representing Petitioners (Petitioner Performance Score: 81.9%), and he ranked 92nd (previously 100th in 2019) among the Most Active Attorneys representing Petitioners, handling 38 petitioner cases. Dr. Konstantakopoulos also achieved a total Success Score that ranked him 28th among Attorneys representing IPR Petitioners and named him to its list of Best IPR Attorneys in 2020. The recognition placed Dr. Konstantakopoulos among the industry’s leading attorneys handling IPRs, putting him in the top 0.1% out of about 5000 attorneys in this category.
