Desmarais LLP is pleased to announce the elevation of five new partners, effective January 1, 2022 – Steven Balcof, Kerri-Ann Limbeek, Jordan Malz, Alyssa Monsen, and Jeffrey Seddon.
This is Desmarais LLP’s largest partner class since its 2010 founding. The firm, which now has about 75 attorneys, has three offices across the country – New York, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.

Steven Balcof
Steven Balcof joined Desmarais LLP in 2017. His practice focuses on technology disputes involving patent, trade secret, and antitrust litigation related to 3G/4G communications, automobile safety, biologics, database management systems, digital printing, flash memory, medical devices, mobile device cameras, signal processing, VOIP, and web applications. Mr. Balcof has represented plaintiffs and defendants in the federal district courts, before the International Trade Commission, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Mr. Balcof earned his bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 2007 and his law degree from Emory University School of Law in 2010.
Kerri-Ann Limbeek
Kerri-Ann Limbeek joined Desmarais LLP in 2015. Her practice focuses on complex technology disputes involving patent infringement litigation related to pharmaceuticals, medical and surgical devices, consumer products, semiconductor fabrication, computer hardware, software, telecommunications, and video streaming technology. Ms. Limbeek has represented plaintiffs and defendants in the federal district courts, the appellate courts, before the International Trade Commission, and in arbitration proceedings before the International Chamber of Commerce.
Ms. Limbeek earned her bachelor's degree in chemical and biomolecular engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 2010 and her law degree from the University of Chicago Law School in 2013.
Jordan Malz
Jordan Malz joined Desmarais LLP in 2013. His practice focuses on patent disputes involving technologies related to smartphones, fiber optics, networks, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices. Mr. Malz has represented plaintiffs and defendants in patent litigation in the federal district courts, before the International Trade Commission, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Mr. Malz earned his bachelor's degree from Brown University in 1997 and his law degree from Harvard Law School in 2000.
Alyssa Monsen
Alyssa Monsen joined Desmarais LLP in 2019. Her practice focuses on life-sciences patent disputes involving innovator pharmaceutical companies’ therapies related to oncology, ophthalmology, and infectious diseases. Ms. Monsen has represented clients in the federal district courts, the appellate courts, and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. She has also counseled clients in patent portfolio assessment, due diligence, and international patent enforcement strategy.
Ms. Monsen earned her bachelor's degree in molecular biology from Princeton University in 2005 and her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 2011.
Jeffrey Seddon
Jeffrey Seddon joined Desmarais LLP in 2014. His practice focuses on patent disputes involving complex technology related to semiconductors, biologics, mobile communications, digital imaging, computer architecture, and networking. Mr. Seddon has represented clients before the Federal Circuit, as well as in the federal district courts and before the International Trade Commission.
Mr. Seddon earned his bachelor's degrees in computer science and philosophy from the University of Maryland in 2008 and his law degree from New York University School of Law in 2011.
