Desmarais LLP is pleased to announce that Cosmin Maier and Kevin McNish have been elevated to partner at the firm, effective January 1, 2020.
Maier joined Desmarais LLP in 2018. He represents various clients in patent litigation and inter partes review proceedings, including actions involving wireless communications, semiconductor fabrication, power control, voltage regulation, computer architecture, networking, digital cameras, digital signal processing, Bluetooth, and multiprocessor systems. He has also managed inter partes review proceedings that led to nearly 400 claims being found unpatentable – decisions that were later upheld by the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals.
Maier earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan and his law degree from the University of Michigan.
McNish joined Desmarais LLP in 2013. He represents various clients in patent litigation and in post-grant proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, including inter partes reviews and covered business method reviews. He has served as first chair in more than 60 Patent Trial and Appeal Board proceedings involving tech and pharmaceutical drug patents, and has argued before the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. In 2018, the analytics firm Patexia named him among the top 10 most effective attorneys practicing before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
McNish earned bachelor’s degrees in physics and mathematics from Vanderbilt University and his law degree from the University of Virginia.
